About Us

Building climate-resilient neighbourhoods together: Explore resources, find support, and unlock solar energy solutions through ResNet.

Who we Are

Resilience Network CIC (ResNet for short) was founded in 2023. Iris, David, Andrew and Rose are the current registered company directors for ResNet and as directors we are legally responsible for the running of the organisation. However, it will be our members – community organisations based in and around Bristol – who will be able to assist us, the directors, in determining the long-term aims of ResNet as well as in the appointment of additional directors.

We are also very lucky in that we are being supported by a few other individuals and organisations on a voluntary/pro bono basis, giving us time to raise further funds and starting to bring greater neighbourhood climate resilience to our neighbourhoods. As the project develops, we anticipate the addition of both, additional directors (we are looking at a board of at least 7 directors) and paid members of staff.

Currently

At this stage of the project, ResNet does not have any other paid staff members, though directors are receiving some limited payment for the work that is being undertaken by ResNet, paid for with the funding we have received from Bristol City Leap and The South West Net Zero Hub.

Get Involved

We are looking for two of the directors to be nominated by our member organisations and one to be an industry expert in their field from one of our partner organisations.
Please feel free to contact us using the contact details below if you would like to nominate someone to join our board.

David Saunders

David Saunders

David arrived in Bristol in 2007 after a varied and serendipitous career in business involving computing, marketing, silicon valley, working as a carpenter in meditation communities, peace projects, business training, corporate turnarounds, an amphibious car, fell walking, and a World Expo. An interest in the environment and social justice led to helping open Hamilton House in Stokes Croft as a community hub and putting Bristol’s first community owned solar array on its roof, working with two community energy co-ops in 2011. This then led to a community project putting solar on domestic roofs in Lockleaze in 2012-13, and other projects since, with varying degrees of success and learning. David is committed to enabling our communities to become more sustainable and resilient, and supports the rapid evolution of solar, electric vehicle and other environmental technologies, making it possible to work through our community anchor organisations and building a community owned solar energy supply integrated with shared storage and electric vehicles.
